It was something about a boy who lived in a land that was going to be threatened by an ice age. There was also a giant bear-like creature, who was intelligent and could talk. I seem to recall that at first the bear was after the boy, but at the end of the book when the ice age hits, the bear enfolds the boy and tells the boy he will take care of him and keep him warm.
Anybody ever remember reading this book? I’ve looked everywhere for it.
