What is the title of this young adult science fiction book I read when I was young?

I’ve been trying to buy the books I loved as a child and I can’t figure out the title and/or author to this one book. I believe it was printed sometime during the 1970s, but not sure. Please help.

Brief summary: The world is overheating and a teen girl goes to find her brother who is in the space program. She manages to get on the spaceship that holds the people that will repopulate whatever planet they land on. She fights constantly with the commander and starts a mutiny, but then falls in love with him after he nurses her back to health while she’s locked in the ship’s jail cell. They end up landing back on Earth.

I just got done reading ‘Conventions of War’ by Walter J Williams, is the third book in the series of “Dread Empire’s Fall”. I think a fourth book is coming out, but it’s going to be a wao. I’m looking for a good book with similar story. “The Praxis” and “The Sundering” were the 1st and 2nd book in the series respectively.

I need a good,long,Science Fiction,Book to read over the summer.Can you please help me find one to read?

I need a good,worthwhile,scienfiction book.I’ve already read these science fiction series: The Cronicals of Narnia,and Harry Potter.I want somthing new,exciting,and made for young adults.I prefer the book authors: Erin Hunter,Louise May Alcott,J.K. Rowling,Dodie Smith,and writer of the Hank the Cowdog series.I need books written by the listed authors or books including any of this information.Thank You for all your wonderfull suggestions!

I’m looking a science fiction book to read but I don’t really like sci-fi books about aliens, does anyone have any suggestions?
Some science fiction books I have read recently that I liked were 1984, The Hunger Games, and Enders Game which admittedly does have a few aliens.
