Amazing advances in space flight and astronomy.
My dad read this book when he was in high school and said it was the best book he’s ever read, but can’t remember the name of.
If it’s okay, can you give me a short summary of the book.
Thanks
The book title started with a “Q” from what I can remember, and I think the book cover had a human-looking rabbit who was toting a large gun. It was a science fiction book from the 80’s or 90’s, but I can’t find it anywhere!!!!!!
I’m looking for a book that I read as a kid. It was something about a boy who lived in a land that was going to be threatened by an ice age. There was also a giant bear-like creature, who was intelligent and could talk. I seem to recall that at first the bear was after the boy, but at the end of the book when the ice age hits, the bear enfolds the boy and tells the boy he will take care of him and keep him warm.
Anybody ever remember reading this book? I’ve looked everywhere for it.
Thanks!
I once owned a book called Almost Human. It was a science fiction book about children that were engineered by aliens to survive the changes that earth was about to endure. These children would be able to bear children of their own that were genetically able to survive better on earth. The aliens I believe were called the Pribar. Can anyone tell me who wrote this and where I can get it?
I’ve been trying to buy the books I loved as a child and I can’t figure out the title and/or author to this one book. I believe it was printed sometime during the 1970s, but not sure. Please help.
Brief summary: The world is overheating and a teen girl goes to find her brother who is in the space program. She manages to get on the spaceship that holds the people that will repopulate whatever planet they land on. She fights constantly with the commander and starts a mutiny, but then falls in love with him after he nurses her back to health while she’s locked in the ship’s jail cell. They end up landing back on Earth.
I am looking to get in to a more modern dark sci fi book or series but need some good suggestions. I am familiar with older stuff like Ender’s Game and Foundation but I’m looking for something recently written. What is the future of this genre?
I read a book many years ago – say around 40 years ago – about commet dust that fell to earth and disabled all machinery by welding together anything that moved.
Any moving device, bearings, motors, etc. were welded together when they moved with the comet dust being present.
They finally developed a device that “swept” the atmosphere to cause the comet dust to fall out of the atmosphere where it was collected.
I don’t remember the author or the title.
Does anyone have any idea of the title or author of this book?
I just got done reading ‘Conventions of War’ by Walter J Williams, is the third book in the series of “Dread Empire’s Fall”. I think a fourth book is coming out, but it’s going to be a wao. I’m looking for a good book with similar story. “The Praxis” and “The Sundering” were the 1st and 2nd book in the series respectively.
